Terminator Painting Contest Entry

Here is a Terminator I painted for a contest. It was my best effort at the time, but sadly I didn't make it to the top 10.

Orks Are Done!

Finally the Orks are done, and 100% ready for battle. I painted these guys first, mainly because it's not the army I will be playing and I just wanted to get them done. It took me longer than I thought it would, but I am pretty picky and still a slow painter just having started in April 2009.

A special thanks goes out to Jawaballs, I emailed him after I foolishly used "Purity Seal" on the Orks. Never use this product, it is a waste of money and will ruin your hard work. It gave all the models a "frosted" look and made all the metal paints look a bland gray. Jawaballs suggested that I use a gloss sealer to revive the frosted models and then cover them in Vallejo satin varnish. This work like a charm, the pictures you are seeing in this post are the models after being sealed using a gloss varnish. I have not decided if I want to use the satin finish on them, but we shall see.

Building a Modular Gaming Table

Last weekend with the help of my wife, we build a modular gaming table. The finished product is three 2' x 4' boards, so essentially a 6' x 4' board. I'm very glad we got this finished before the weather starts to turn rainy, which is only about one month away. I have a game board all ready to go.... now I just need to get my army built lol.

Items used cost about $80, so not too bad.

-3 sheets of 1/2" plywood 2' x 4'
-6 1" x 2" boards
-About 60 1/2" wood screws
-Some wood glue
-3 bottles of PVA glue
-1 50lb bag of sand
-1 Gallon of flat brown paint (probably only needed a quart)
-1 tube of tan paint (for dry brushing)
-2 containers of GW static green grass
-Lots of water, some hamburgers, and lots of elbow grease.

Test Marines

Here are some Space Marines that I painted. I was trying out new looks to see which one I would use for my starter kit Marines…. None of these paint schemes will be used, but I thought it would be fun to post them.

Da Boyz!

I have completed four Ork Boyz, and I am pretty happy with the way they turned out. I wanted them to have a very dirty and battle hardened look, and I think I accomplished that. One thing I am going to change is the highlighting on the boots. I tried using a brown highlight on a few of the boyz boots, and I think I prefer the gray. Four down, sixteen to go……

The Assault on Black Reach

Here is the work I have done so far on the Warhmmer 40K starter kit, The Assault on Black Reach. I have removed all the models from the plastic sprues, and removed all the mold lines…. Which is a very tedious process. I used up four razor blades in the process and made a few mistakes, but hey I’m still a noob.
